A handy guide for the Religeous, about how to understand the Atheist point of view.

Image that the human race had an extremely poor grasp of the basic principles of mathematics. So bad that the most accomplished mathematicians in the world where grappling with the sum 10+10= . Imagine also that we’d just realised that a theory we’d thought was right for nearly 100 years, that 10+10 must equal 11…

Oggcamp 11 Review

It can be difficult to explain to people who aren’t particularly interested in technology, what the attraction is of attending a conference to talk about technology. I don’t have the same problem explaining why I go to rock concerts or motor sport events. But articulating why I’d rank last weekend’s OggCamp (Farnham – 13th &…

OggCamp11

If you’re at all interested in Linux, or technology, then here’s a unique opportunity. OggCamp is a a “Bar Camp” type event, where lots of interesting people can go along and talk about what is happening and things they’re working on and interested in. It’s a very un-regimented event, and if there’s something you want…

Unity and Gnome 3 Chirality

I’ve just written to Linux Format. I think there’s a good reason why Unity and Gnome3 are uncomfortable for most people to use. What do you think?
Hi!
I’ve been using Unity and Gnome 3 with a touch screen for a little while now. I think I can put my finger on a massive flaw in…

There are lots of Great Places to Eat in Weston…

Overpriced, crap food, served carelessly at Marston's Old Colon

…but The Old Colonial is not one of them. And if my experience there a short while ago is anything to go by, it’s best avoided at all costs. Today was so pathetic, I can’t help but think of it as “The Old Colon”. Yes, The Old Colon fits it nicely. A tired and unpleasant…

Your Shipment of FAIL has Arrived at Maplin

I got partially turned over at Maplin today. I went in for a browse in their Bristol Cribbs Causeway store, and made an impulse purchase. I bought one of these… LINKY . I went out to the car to try them out on my Android phone. They didn’t work, the playback was missing half the stereo image and you couldn’t hear the vocals properly.

Not to worry thought I, just take it back in the store and they’ll sort it. Aparently, no they won’t. once you open the box on a in ear product, that’s it they won’t take it back or refund it due to “health and safety” reasons. The fact it doesn’t work with Andorid phones and nowhere in the store or on the box is that mentioned has noting to do with it.

Superflous Information…

Mint KDE – All mouth, no trousers :(

I so wanted to like Mint KDE. Lately, I’ve been getting a little bored of my Gnome Desktop. And I’m a longtime admirer of Mint’s various output. So I lept into their KDE version with much anticipation. But it sadly turned into a bit of a let down.
I have to say that the first impressions…

What the Hoff?!

There’s no accounting for taste, and I understand subjectivity… but!

I was taking the piss out of the Germans earlier, specifically Fab on Linux Outlaws during the live show. He was bemoaning the fact that Spotify doesn’t work in Germany. I was basically jibing along the lines of “What do people in Germany want it for? 24h David…
